Paper Range
Gloss coated paper
Gloss coated paper has a shiny, photographic quality due to the gloss coating applied to both sides of the sheet. The coating enhances vibrancy and color contrasts by preventing ink absorption, and can be further intensified with a gloss machine seal or lamination. Gloss paper is an ideal choice for visually striking marketing materials like magazines, flyers, and catalogues. The coating also provides excellent protection against cracking, allowing for folding without scoring. However, the reflective quality of the gloss coating can cause glare, making text-heavy documents challenging to read.
Silk Coated Paper
Silk coated paper offers similar advantages to gloss paper without causing glare. The silk coating, applied to both sides of the sheet, results in a subtle sheen and vivid colors, making text legible. Silk stock is widely preferred for different materials such as brochures, leaflets, posters, and packaging sleeves like pillow packs and box sleeves.
Matte Coated Paper
Matte coated paper is a smooth and strong sheet with a dull finish, thanks to the matte coating applied to both sides. The coating provides anti-glare properties that make it easy to read large areas of text. Matte paper holds ink well, but colors will be less vibrant compared to gloss or silk coated paper. It is ideal to use with gloss spot UV varnish or foiling as the muted effect of this paper will enhance the contrast of the contrasting finishes. Matte coated paper is commonly used for packaging sleeves, brochures, and other printed materials that require a subdued, understated appearance.
Uncoated Paper
Uncoated paper is becoming increasingly popular due to the growing focus on sustainability. This type of paper has no protective coating, giving it a natural, environmentally-friendly look and feel. It is highly absorbent, making it a good choice for litho printing with a faded or washed out effect. However, uncoated paper is prone to tearing and cracking due to its lack of coating, so it may not be suitable for folded items. Uncoated paper is often made from 100% recycled material and is fully recyclable after use.
